National Training Programme on Entrepreneurship Development & Management for Scientists and Technologists working in Govt. Sector

The country’s cadre of scientists and technologists is most acclaimed. They function in their work spaces with all focus on developing innovations. Their focus on adopting an entrepreneurial way to ensure that their innovations and discoveries reach out to the masses, is limited. Several times most innovations do not get commercialized and lie within the four walls of laboratories for lack of initiative and enterprise to bring it in the market.  In order to introduce scientists and technologists to entrepreneurial competencies and abilities, EDII designed a special programme for scientists and technologists. The programme, National Training Programme on Entrepreneurship Development and Management for Scientists and Technologists with the Government Sector aimed at sensitizing the participants about entrepreneurship and helped them to realize the importance of innovative ventures. The programme also seeks to strengthen and develop their collaborative partnerships with national and international institutions while providing them with real world experience to bridge the gap between innovations and markets.

The 16th National Training Programme on Entrepreneurship Development and Management was conducted during December 2-13, 2019 under sponsorship support by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.

National Training Programme on Entrepreneurship Development and Management for Women Scientists and Technologists with the Government Sector

While on one side entrepreneurship has been recognised as an important source of economic growth and inclusive development, on the other, women have established themselves as better leaders and implementers. They have even proved themselves when it comes to exhibiting entrepreneurial skills. It was, therefore, felt that that if women technologists were imparted entrepreneurial skills, the results  could lead to exemplary accomplishments.  Against this backdrop, EDII conducted National Training Programme on Entrepreneurship Development & Management for Women Scientists and Technologists with the Government Sector, during 10 to 21 February, 2020.

Sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, the 10-day residential programme is specially designed for women scientists/technologists working in departments/ministries of central government, public sector units, government aided research institutes, and State Governments. It focused on familiarising participants with the comprehensive entrepreneurship development process and enabling them to identify viable business opportunities based on resource-economy-market circumstances. The programme concluded with a valedictory program, which was graced by the august presence of Shri Tapan Misra (Distinguished Scientist, Sr. Advisor to Chairman, ISRO, Former Director, Space Applications Centre).
