The Journal of Entrepreneurship (JoE) is India’s leading scholarly outlet for research in the area of entrepreneurship and small business. With over 25 years of publication history, JoE continues to be published bi-annually in March and September by Sage Publications and is read and referred the world over.

Aims and Scope

The Journal of Entrepreneurship is a multidisciplinary forum for the publication of articles, research and discussion of issues that bear upon and enfold the field of entrepreneurship. Topics appropriate and related to entrepreneurship include intrapreneurship, managership, organizational behaviour, leadership, motivation, training and ethical/moral notions guiding entrepreneurial behaviour. Disciplinary boundaries that straddle entrepreneurship theory and research include economics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, history, management and others. The journal particularly welcomes articles that advance our understanding of entrepreneurship phenomenon across different national and cultural contexts. Articles should be well articulated and substantive. The journal is peer-reviewed.

Guidelines for Authors

Article Types:

Perspectives shall ordinarily be articles, essays, think pieces on an issue or a subject of interest to researchers and scholars. Such idea based articles by their very nature cut across different areas and disciplines. Perspective pieces will be featured as and when the Editors receive suitable ones. The Editors may, from time to time, also seek contributions from well-known and recognized scholars and thinkers for perspectives.

Research:

Articles based on empirical evidence which help define an area of study relevant and related to entrepreneurship, critically evaluate previous theory and research, and advance cumulative knowledge in the field.

Notes and Comments:

This section, when featured shall report on research findings in brief as well as commentaries on previously published work, retrospections, reflections, subjects relevant to the understanding of entrepreneurship phenomena.

Manuscript submission:

  • Authors should submit soft copies of their manuscripts in MS-WORD format addressed to the Editor.   • A copyright form would be required to be filled up by the author/s, only after which the submission would be considered as final.

Basic formatting of the manuscripts:

  • Manuscripts should include an abstract of 120-150 words, 4-6 keywords and contact information for each author including email addresses. The corresponding author’s name and address details should be clearly specified, if there are two or more authors. Manuscripts, in English, should not ordinarily exceed approximately 5,000 words.

Spelling and numerical usages:

  • Use British spellings (‘labour’ nor ‘labor’, ‘centre’ not ‘center’; universal’ise’ and ‘isation’ of words) throughout the text.
  • Use of numerals: One to nine in words, 10 and above in figures.

Quotations, notes, tables and figures:

  • Use single quotes throughout. Double quotes only used within single quotes. Quotations with more than 45 words should be indented from the text.
  • Notes should be numbered serially and presented at the end of the articles. Notes must contain more than a mere reference.
  • All figures and tables should be cited in the text by their numbers (See Table 1) and not by placement (See Table Below) Sources of figures and tables should be mentioned irrespective of whether or not they require permissions.
  • All photographs and scanned images should have a resolution of minimum 300 dpi and 1500 pixels and their format should be TIFF and JPEG. Due permissions should be taken for copyright protected photographs/images.

Submission is a representation that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. A statement transferring copyright from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to the Editor will be required before the manuscript is accepted for publication. The JoE will supply the necessary forms for this transfer.
